Colt turns 5

Colton decided that he wanted to have his 5th birthday party in the KC-97 that is at the airport.

It was a beautiful day.  The temperature was in the 60's.  Not bad for November in Oregon.  This provided the kids a chance to run off some of their energy.

North Dakota 2012

Last weekend was opening weekend for pheasants in North Dakota.  For the last nine or ten years, a group of us has met in Dickinson to shoot birds, play cards, tell stories, etc., etc..  This year was no different, although we were missing a couple of regulars, it seems that we always pick up right where we left off the previous year.  And, as usual, the amount of birds that we saw each day was amazing.  In the hour and a half to two hours that we shoot each day,  we might see a thousand birds.  It is absolutely incredible.

The opening morning take.  9 hunters times 3 birds equals 27.

Bill Slagle in a CRP field near Regent, North Dakota.  I thought this picture was cool.  I liked how you could see the harvested wheat field in the background.

Hawaii 2012

We went to Hawaii the last week of August.

The place that we stayed had three different pools.  This was a giant lagoon pool with waterfalls and a water slide that Colton couldn't get enough of.

Waiting for luau to start.

Austin loved kicking his way around the lagoon on this little boogie board.

Redding August 2012

On our way back from Lake Oroville, Colton and I stayed at Nana's in Redding.  On this day, we went to the Turtle Bay Museum and checked out the animal displays.  Then we went over to Uncle Terry's house to swim and visit.

Trying out the giant slide.  It's as tall as the pool house.

Camping at Lake Oroville

Colton, Nana, and I went camping at Lake Oroville with the Slagle/Stevens clan.  Their were 10 adults and 11 children in the group.  It was great to see everyone.  This is a picture of Colton and a few of his camping friends.

Newport

On Saturday afternoon we went to the aquarium in Newport.  The kids had a great time looking at all of the fish and ocean animals.  They were also able to touch a few animals as you can see.  They had a great time.

The shark tunnel was a favorite.
They also loved watching the seals swimming.

We also went over to the Hatfield Marine Science Center.

On our drive back to Lincoln City from Newport,  We stopped at the Yaquina Head lighthouse.  Brandy and Colton went in and climbed the 90+ steps to the top.  Austin wasn't tall enough.  I think that you have to be at least 42 inches tall or the park service won't let you make the trek to the top.

Lincoln City

Last weekend, we went to Lincoln City for a Teamster meeting.  We stayed at The Inn at Spanish Head as that was where the event was at.  Brandy and the kids were on their own to explore the beach and town while I took part in the union activities.

Lincoln City was having a kite festival that weekend.

Colton, Austin, and I flew their Dumbo kite Saturday afternoon.
