North Dakota 2012

Last weekend was opening weekend for pheasants in North Dakota.  For the last nine or ten years, a group of us has met in Dickinson to shoot birds, play cards, tell stories, etc., etc..  This year was no different, although we were missing a couple of regulars, it seems that we always pick up right where we left off the previous year.  And, as usual, the amount of birds that we saw each day was amazing.  In the hour and a half to two hours that we shoot each day,  we might see a thousand birds.  It is absolutely incredible.

The opening morning take.  9 hunters times 3 birds equals 27.

Bill Slagle in a CRP field near Regent, North Dakota.  I thought this picture was cool.  I liked how you could see the harvested wheat field in the background.

Patrick Pendergast, John Downs, and Bill Slagle walking a field.

Mike Michalak and John "Doc" Downs walk behind their dogs.  In this picture, there are two dogs on point and a bird in the air.

  1. I'm glad y'all figured out the math before you went out there. Doc doesn't need any more run ins with the North Dakota Fish and Game.
